Neurostimulation Using NeoRhythm

About

This is one of my favourite devices that I use both for sleep and to promote energy, vitality and to enhance mental capacity during the day. Now I am not saying that this will solve all of your narcolepsy and sleep disorder challenges, but for me the focus always remains around finding those tiny gains to both improve sleep and offset the impacts on mental capacity that narcolepsy brings.

It is the sum total of many small improvements that leads to more meaningful and measurable changes in your life. I could give no better suggestion than to look for the 1% improvement opportunities (or even 0.5% gains) … they all add up and this is one of the secrets to my success managing my own narcolepsy. I have found that the NeoRhythm is one of those 1%’s.

NeoRhythm is the first brainwave entrainment device with a multi-coil structure and gesture controls, which makes it one of the most user-friendly neurostimulation devices on the market. It helps you get into the desired state of mind by emitting scientifically supported frequencies through electromagnetic fields. The brain synchronises with these frequencies to help you relax, enhance focus, energise body and mind, fall asleep quicker and sleep better, meditate better, or soothe your pain.

NeoRhythm is a low/medium-intensity repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation device (LI/MI rTMS). With appropriate positioning of the coils inside the device which generate electromagnetic fields, which precisely target the right brain locations to get the desired effect.  NeoRhythm’s efficiency is confirmed by two independent double-blind, placebo-controlled studies and supported by many other scientific studies.

Vagus Nerve Stimulation

The NeoRhythm device harnesses the power of pulsed electromagnetic fields (PEMF) technology to enhance vagal stimulation, offering a promising approach to improving overall well-being. Vagal stimulation is known to activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which plays a key role in reducing stress, improving digestion, and regulating emotional responses.

A recent study has highlighted the potential of vagus nerve stimulation as a therapeutic strategy for managing sleep disorders, including narcolepsy. The first study to explore this connection demonstrated significant improvements in daytime sleepiness among narcolepsy patients, suggesting that vagal stimulation could become a future cornerstone in the management of this condition.

By gently stimulating the vagus nerve, NeoRhythm may help individuals with narcolepsy experience better regulation of their sleep-wake cycles, alongside the broader benefits of reduced stress, enhanced heart rate variability, and improved mood.

Regular use of NeoRhythm for vagal stimulation could therefore be a valuable tool in managing narcolepsy and promoting holistic health.

What makes NeoRhythm unique?

• It consists of five strategically positioned magnetic-field-generating inverted coils, which both separately and in-tune target different regions of the brain or the spinal cord. This structure has made NeoRhythm the only device on the market that covers the biggest, most extensive stimulation area.

• It is a non-invasive device since the electromagnetic pulses emitted are healthy and effective even though we can not see, hear, or feel them.

• The use of a cellphone to control the device is minimal. You would use the phone only to set up the device the first time you use, and in situations when you decide to change the stimulation program. This way, you will protect yourself from the harmful frequencies your phone emits.

• It is gesture-controlled. NeoRhythm is a user-friendly device. It is designed without any buttons or wires. A simple tap does the magic. Tap the device to give instructions, feel the vibration as an adequate answer.

• The traffic light protocol makes it easier for you to know its state because of the familiarity of the protocol. Red, orange or yellow light tells what is the device doing. Flashing green light means that stimulation is in progress. Blinking orange light indicates that the device is connected to your mobile device, whereas a blinking red light means that the battery is low. A steady, continuous orange light means NeoRhythm is being charged.

How does the NeoRhythm work?

NeoRhythm is a unique wearable device that suggests the brain which frequencies to work at. It uses electromagnetic pulses of medium intensity and is called a Mi rTMS device (medium intensity repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation). It has six programs you activate to stimulate a specific mental state: Improve sleep; Pain control; Enhance mental capacity; Theta meditation; Deep relaxation; Energy and vitality.

How do you use the NeoRhythm

The NeoRhythm headband is placed in different positions on the head (or body for pain relief) depending on the which program stimulation you are using. Here is a visual representation of various positions.

Improve Sleep

It is recommended wearing NeoRhythm at the occiput (back of the head) for 20min before lying down. Afterward, you have an option for setting a timer to have the program run for up to 8 hours. It can be placed anywhere close to the head. I personally keep it inside my pillow case but you could place it on your bedside table.

Pain Control

The NeoRhythm must be positioned on a slightly lower position at the back of our head to cover the parietal and temporal lobes or around the neck. One session lasts 40min. It is recommended using the Pain Control program twice a day. It can also be placed on or around any other areas of the body where you are experiencing pain.

Enhance Mental Capacity

Frontoparietal lobes play an essential role in our cognitive functioning, which is the NeoRhythm is placed not on the top of the head but in a slightly lower position towards the forehead. One session lasts from 30 to 60min. It is recommended using the Enhancing Mental Capacity program up to three times a day.

Theta Meditation

NeoRhythm offers two programs to support meditation, the Theta Meditation and the Meditation for Calming & Synchronization. During both subprograms, it is placed above the ears; only the duration of the stimulation that differs. Theta Meditation should run for as long as the optimal duration of the treatment is.

Deep Relaxation

For this simulation program, NeoRhythm is placed at the occiput. One session lasts from 30-60min. It is recommended using the Deep Relaxation program once or twice a day, depending on your needs. A headband is also available to be purchased (although any headband could be used) to help keep it in place.

Energy and Vitality

NeoRhythm is placed over the prefrontal cortical region. One session lasts 30-60min. It is recommended using the Energy and Vitality program once or twice a day, depending on the needs. I use this program setting when I first get up in the morning and also throughout the day, mixing it up with the Enhance Mental Capacity program setting.

Coaching with the Narcolepsy Life Academy

Coaching with the Narcolepsy Life Academy provides a blend of traditional coaching and a mentor/consultant relationship. Specialising in lifestyle optimisation for people living with narcolepsy and other sleep disorders, the journey of transformation often involves a greater amount of information and strategies to be shared than in a more formal coaching partnership.

Each relationship is unique and the level of knowledge and understanding of lifestyle strategies varies between clients. For this reason the ratio of education to the facilitation of conversations helping clients to gain insight and awareness also varies. What remains consistent is the support, motivation and cultivation of awareness for each client.
